Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE)

Refractive lens exchange replaces your eye's natural lens with an advanced intraocular lens (IOL), correcting your vision and, for many patients, significantly reducing or eliminating the need for reading glasses. It uses many of the same techniques as cataract surgery but is performed electively, before a visually significant cataract has developed.

We offer several premium lens options, each suited to different visual goals:

  • PanOptix – A trifocal lens designed to provide clear vision at near, intermediate, and distance ranges, ideal for patients who want full-range spectacle independence.
  • Vivity – An extended depth-of-focus lens that provides a smooth, continuous range of vision with a reduced risk of visual disturbances like halos and glare compared to some multifocal lenses.
  • Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) – A unique lens that remains adjustable after surgery. Using a series of in-office UV light treatments, we can fine-tune your prescription once your eye has healed, allowing for a highly customized final result.

We'll help you weigh the benefits and trade-offs of each lens type based on your vision priorities, eye health, and lifestyle.
