Bruce W. Madsen, M.D., M.B.A., M.H.A. is a board certified ophthalmologist and has been practicing at Eyecare Associates since 2003. Dr. Madsen grew up in Idaho. He completed his undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and went on to graduate with honors and a Masters degree in Business Administration and Health Services Administration from Arizona State University.
He completed his medical School training at Finch University Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School. Dr. Madsen then served as chief resident at the University of Texas Health Science Center where he developed skills in the latest technique of no-stitch Cataract surgery as well as treatment for glaucoma, strabismus and oculoplastics. He also provides emergency and routine eye care for children and adults. Dr. Madsen, with his wife, Jennifer, and their six children, is very involved with his church. He is passionate about helping people. His interests include working with the Special Olympics, golf, tennis, skiing, fishing, softball, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Young is a highly skilled anterior segment surgeon with extensive experience in the medical and surgical management of cataracts and glaucoma. As a UCLA-trained and board-certified ophthalmologist, he brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge to his practice. With formal Glaucoma fellowship training, he is committed to providing comprehensive care to his patients, from accurate diagnosis to sight-saving glaucoma surgery in the form of laser therapy to filtering surgeries such as trabeculectomies and glaucoma shunts.
Dr. Young is also an accomplished cataract and refractive lens exchange (RLE) surgeon with over 2000 procedures performed, utilizing the latest technology to improve outcomes for his patients. He takes pride in ensuring that each patient receives personalized care tailored to their specific needs and preferences.
A Portland-metro native, Dr. Young graduated with honors from Reed College and completed his medical and graduate education through the prestigious Medical Scientist Training Program at UCLA-Caltech, which was funded through the National Institutes of Health.
During his career, Dr. Young has received numerous awards for his research, clinical care, and collegiality. He has also published several articles in reputable Ophthalmology journals on cataracts and glaucoma, and has been invited to speak at national Ophthalmology conferences. He is well-known for his teaching, serving as an affiliate faculty of the OHSU-Casey Eye residency program and fellowship mentor in surgical glaucoma. Overall, Dr. Young is a compassionate and dedicated physician who is committed to providing the highest level of care to his patients.
When he's not working, Dr. Young enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and two cats. He also enjoys watching football, snow sports, and playing competitive ultimate frisbee.

Dr. Dawne Griffith has specialized in refractive surgery for the majority of her 30 years in practice. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University College of Optometry in 1995, and her chemistry degree from Southwest State University in Minnesota in 1991. She has received awards for Clinical Research and Clinical Excellence, and is a member of the Optometric Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive Society.
Dr. Griffith enjoys public speaking and teaching colleagues about a variety of cutting-edge refractive technologies at CE events. She is a consultant for STAAR Surgical, the makers of the EVO ICL.
She enjoys playing ice hockey year-round, weightlifting, woodworking, reading, volunteering at church, and enjoying beautiful Oregon with her husband and animals.

Dr. Allen Kim is a licensed optometrist who earned his doctorate from Pacific University College of Optometry in 2013. He then went on to complete a residency at the Portland VA Medical Center, where he gained advanced training in eye care. He currently serves as the Clinical Director of NVISION Eye Centers in Tigard and is also an Adjunct Professor at Pacific University, where he enjoys mentoring the next generation of optometrists.
Dr. Kim specializes in refractive surgery consultations, post-operative care and Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) treatments, working closely with surgeons to guide patients through every stage of their vision correction journey. His clinical approach emphasizes precision, education, and long-term patient outcomes.
He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, San Diego, earning a degree in Psychology, which continues to shape his patient-centered approach to care.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Kim enjoys spending time with his wife, Jennifer, their son Henry, and their cat Harold. He has a passion for food and is well known among colleagues for frequently sharing homemade dishes with the clinic.

Dr. Sarina Patel is a licensed optometrist who earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University in 2024. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of California San Diego, where she majored in evolutionary and marine biology. She pursued research focused on mantis shrimp, an experience that sparked her long-standing interest in visual systems and ocular science.
She has a strong interest in research and has authored and contributed to published articles in peer-reviewed research journals. She values the role of research in advancing patient care and evidence-based medicine and looks forward to continuing her involvement in clinical research throughout her career. She also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Pacific University College of Optometry, where she is involved in the clinical education and training of students.
Prior to joining the practice, Dr. Patel trained under Dr. Jonathan Young, our glaucoma specialist. Through this training, she developed extensive experience in the management of advanced glaucoma and continues to play an active role in patients' ongoing care. Her clinical interests also include refractive surgery and Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) treatments, allowing her to help patients achieve optimized visual outcomes.
While Dr. Patel values the scientific and technical aspects of eye care, she is equally committed to building strong, personal relationships with her patients. She believes that patient education and individualized care are essential to preserving long-term visual health.
In her free time, Dr. Patel enjoys hiking with her dog, Fynn, traveling, and exploring her creative side through art.
